It's a bit early to know for sure, but I do thin k this product has helped me maintain my weight while consuming "normal" American foods. I have not lost weight, but then there are no side effects, and I have not gained weight while consuming this product. I suppose if I exercised and ate healthier, the weight will soon come off, but I'm not trying to lose wight- my BMI is 19.7- I'm only trying to maintain it. Great product!
