This spray is effective and convenient to apply from the spray bottle. The initial odor is comparatively mild, but after a few hours the lingering odor is less pleasant. If this odor is not bothersome to you, or if you are in a position where you can wash off the spray within a few hours, then by all means this is a reasonable substitute for DEET-based repellants.
