Thelight on this clock worked just fine...good light, nice progression from dark to light. I was disappointed because the radio was entirely too quiet for me to hear and I don't trust waking to just the light....I returned it because of this, not because of the light portion of the item.Product Review: Makes it easier to get up when it is still dark outside!

The BioBrite Sunrise Clock Radio, Platinum is a great product. It works well though it isn't the easiest system to program, which is the only complaint I have. The display dims when the alarm is set. However, when the alarm is off, the time display is bright enough to cast a green glow in the bedroom. (One of these days I'll sit down with the manual to dim the display. For now, I cover the display when I haven't set the alarm. Regardless, it is definitely worth the money!Product Review: Must-have

Best purchase I've made in a long time. I love, love, love this alarm clock. In the dead of winter when I could barely drag myself out of bed this alarm clock helped me wake up feeling refreshed and ready for a 5:30 AM run. I bought this about a year ago. I wanted to give it a good shot before I wrote a review. I love the concept. However I am unimpressed in this items execution to say the least. Below are good and bad features.
1) Good: The light comes on and gradually rises perfectly. Add that you can set how long it takes to get to full brightness and you have a really neat feature.
2) Not so good: When the light is on, it is nearly impossible to see the clock. I have to block the light out to be able to see it. The numbers are probably 1 inch tall and green.
3) Good: If using the radio as part of the alarm, it does not come on until the light gets to its full brightness. It is almost a "backup" incase the light doesn't wake you.
4) Not so good: When using the radio as an alarm, it only stays on for about 30 minutes -- as does the light. I am a slow riser and I have fallen back asleep because the light and radio went off before I had fully come to. I now use my cell phone as a backup alarm -- shouldnt need to.
5) Not so good: I am used to alarm clocks resetting themselves after an hour or two. Meaning that if I don't turn off the radio, it will turn off after a while (more than 30 minutes) and be ready for the next day. In this clocks case, as I stated in item 4, it turns off after 30 minutes. It also resets itself and tomorrow it will work again; however the second day it NEVER turns off. Seems an odd feature. Either reset or don't, but to reset the first day and not the second is just damn strange.
6) Not so Good: When configuring -- the first item you come across is the Alarm time. If you set that and continue throught he settings, when you get done, it doesn't save the alarm value and you have to do it again.
7) Not so good: The controls are not clear. It takes some getting used to.
8) Not so good: The radio does not have a very good volumn range. At its loudest, it is still kind of quiet. When waking from a sleep, it is enough for me. But if you are a hard sleeper, it may not wake you and if you want to use it while folding laundry or something, it is not really loud enough.
I have personally worked around the quirks because I spent so much for this thing. But I really would not buy one again. I really wish I could find one that worked well. I have actually considered making my own. Surely I can make one that works better than some of these I have read reviews about for less than 150!
