The item is great! You can set it to either beep or play the radio to make sure you wake up, in addition to the light that comes on. It has a feature to slowly dim at night time, so you don't have to worry about turning off the lights when its time to go to bed. I had been wanting to try one of these for about 10 years now. It finally went on sale on Amazon and I bought one.... wish I had done this 10 years ago. When you need to get up when it's still completely dark out side this is amazing.
The clock isn't magic, if you aren't getting enough sleep at night you will still be tired in the morning. What it will do is change your wake up experience from being a half asleep, nonfunctional zombie until you finish that first pot of coffee to someone who wakes up alert and ready to go despite needing a little more sleep.
The controls on the clock are not very intuitive, but extremely easy after you cave and read the instructions. There is one button you keep pushing to cycle through the options, then you use the up and down arrows to adjust each option.
The quality of the clock is very good, and the radio sounds good (compared to other alarm clocks). The glass dome is very tight fit, which probably is a good thing. Also, it is very large for an alarm clock so make sure it will fit well where you are putting it (it's fine on the small table next to my bed).
If you are a morning person that naturally is ready to go at 6am it probably isn't worth the price, but for those of us who naturally would get up at noon it's worth every penny.

This light/alarm clock is way over priced for what it is and the bottom line on the one I received was - it did not work - when I got it the radio was so low at the highest setting that it was almost inaudiable - I did not return it because the radio was not my concern - but the first day that the light did not wake me, I never heard the backup alarm - so I tested it - I can only assume that alarm used the same speaker that the radio did and that it was also so low I could not hear it at ALL!! - I do not like loud alarm clocks but it has to make SOME kind of noice to wake me. I really like waking up to the gradual light and to the gradual radio sounds. It is so much better than waking up in the dark to the jarring sound of an alarm clock. I live in Seattle and suffer from SAD, and I can't say for certain if it is helping that, but I can say that I do wake up better in the morning, so that makes it worth it!Product Review: It's clever but feels a little cheap.

The good news: My BioBrite awakens me with a gentle simulated sunrise that I am allowed to customize in various ways (length of sunrise, beeping, radio, flashing light). It works exactly that way it's supposed to. Replacement bulbs are quite inexpensive.
The bad news: Programming is clunky. Only one alarm can be programmed at any one time. If you change the alarm, you lose some of your other settings (like the day/date display). Also, the product feels a little too cheap for its price point. In fact, I had to apply a little WD-40 to one of the buttons when I first started using the product.
I use this product as my primary alarm clock on weekdays, and it serves me quite well. If I want an alarm on weekends (or an alarm set for a different time), I use a different clock.
