I bought this for my small room, but its not effective at all. Turbo mode sounds weird. It disturb while you are sleeping too.Product Review: It's so so. I only paid $1 for it at a garage sale.

I think it's worth a dollar or two. My switch hasn't broke yet in the 6 weeks I've had it. The Whisper setting is quiet, but I'm not sure it does anything. I cleaned some brown dust off the two razor blades inside once after running Turbo for a few days due to some bad allergies that surprised me. I'm over the allergies, but I cannot verify any causal effect from the ionizer. It may have been the steroid shot I received and/or running a HEPA air cleaner in the computer room along with the ionizer until my allergies were under control. I checked the razors today and there was no dust after 2 weeks of Whisper setting.
I noticed that after a few hours on Turbo mode the room smells like a copier room from all the ozone created.
My mother-in-law has a larger ionizer in her bedroom. Her and my wife don't believe it does much of anything. That was one of the reasons I got this one so I could test one myself.
Long story short: We bought a Hunter HEPA air cleaner (with ionizer - haha) for our bedroom almost 10 years ago. It runs 24 hours a day on the sleep setting. Even though it was over $[...] at Home Depot, I feel in the long run it is a better buy than a plastic Chinese toy that smears a formerly good name like Bell and Howell.

I cannot recommend this product to anyone considering buying it. It's tiny and cheaply made of lightweight plastic. I don't think this thing could freshen a room the size of a cereal box. This item worked well for purifying the air and the design looks nice. Asthma improved markedly. It requires daily cleaning to keep operating well. The cleaning is something to be done very carefully as the metal plates to be wiped down are sharp and jagged. But that is not what bothered me enough to only give this unit one star.
Within 5 days of use the power switch failed completely. So this flimsily made unit now does absolutely nothing.
I'll no longer think of Bell and Howell as a trustworthy company. Function is part of good design. Save your money by not buying this one.
