When our dog went blind in 3 days and was diagnosed with diabetes it was really hard for all us, animals and humans included. What made it even harder was trying to mesure the sugar with a %#$ True Track, by Rite Aids. Our life changed when we got the Contour. (and the meter it is FREE if you go to their website for a coupon and get a prescription) Much less sample blood, the Lancing Device actually WORKS (on the paws, with the clear cap) and the meter doesn't turn off when you finally got the drop to be big enough. 0.11 cents a lancet is really a good price.
By the way. If your animal has diabetes: We are using a human meter even when we know it can be around 30% off. It still gave us a good idea of how things are going. And someday we will calibrated it with the vet. (If you have calibrated, let me know!). But don't get the #$% True Tack, it only will stress you. To deal with that we got 3 types of Rescue Remedy at Amazon. Also, thanks to Amazon it has been even more easy since we can buy syringes, strips and lancets for half the price. Sadly the insulin we still have to buy it at the pharmacy. We learned something, the same medicine can cost 5 times more at the vet that at the pharmacy, so shop around.

Rescue Remedy Pet - 10 ml - Liquid The rescue for humans has alcohol, so I decided I could spend 10 bucks and not complicate things even more. Now the dog gets a treat with a nice coat of Rescue after every shoot of insuline or stick. And with the Bayer devise I don't feel like STABBING him, that was awful.

Initially sent me opened test strips and the wrong amount but when I contacted them via e mail I recvd a response right away and a new order showed up 2 days later. I must say that this was the only time I had a problem as Ive order several times before from them. Nice to know they correct any issues with great expediency.
