I have macular degeneration which distorts my vision and I find it difficult to read. This magnifier does increase the size of the print well enough to make reading easier and is a good size for reading paperbacks. It's also good for doing close work. The hands free feature is very helpful. I did add a longer cord, but for the money, it was a good buy
