Product Reviews of Banana Boat Baby Tear Free UVA & UVB Sunblock Lotion, SPF 50, 8-Ounce Tubes (Pack of 2)Product Review: Florida fair-skinned folks love it Summary: 5 StarsWe started using this on our elementary school daughters (and ourselves) because it doesn't sting the eyes when you sweat. We are VERY fair skinned and have never gotten a burn when we have applied this sunblock. It is hard to spread, and you do have a bit of oiliness to the skin when you have it on (and a little white residue in the skin wrinkles) but it works so well that that doesn't bother me. Stays on well in the water too.
Product Review: Gave me hives/Do not buy this product if you or your child has sensitive skin Summary: 1 StarsI bought this product because it says it's hypoallergenic and won't sting eyes. I used it twice and both times I got hives in all the places I put it. I would not recommend this product for children or people with sensitive skin. It also goes on very greasy. I would recommend Oil Free Coppertone or Sensitive Skin Neutrogena.
Product Review: Sticky and oily Summary: 2 StarsThis product works pretty well and doesn't sting the eyes, but I'm only giving it 2 stars because it is thick, sticky, oily and hard to spread, probably because it has too much titanium dioxide in it. My favorite banana boat product is called Sun Wear. It is spf 50 and works in high altitude or near water, and it is easy to spread and disappears into the skin. I use it on my face, and it doesn't even make it oily.
But this product doesn't measure up. Don't waste your money.
Product Review: Not tear free - false advertising Summary: 1 StarsMy baby did not cry, but after appilcation of this product she rubbed her eyes. Within minutes she was obviously uncomfortable. Her eyes all got red, puffy and teary. She could hardly keep them open and there was so much tearing up! (Even though the tube says "no tears" - maybe they should have said "no crying" instead.) I feel that I was lied to by this company with their false advertising. Do not use this product and think that it will not bother your baby if it gets in her eyes!
Product Review: Our favorite sunscreen! Summary: 5 StarsWe tried about 5 different sunscreens and this is by far our favorite. It has no perfume, does not leave your skin greasy and does not irratate eyes. I also tried the Banana Boat Kids but it really hurts eyes. With sunscreens, should always apply about 30 minutes before sun exposure, not wait until you are in the sun to apply because. Also buy a sun block in stick form. We like the Banana Boat Baby so much, that my husband, nanny and I all use as our standard every day sunscreen. Always have your baby and toddler wear hats for sun protection. Our favorite sun hat is the Flap Happy (available at REI stores).
