Product Reviews of Aveeno Lightly Scented Baby Wash & Shampoo 8 oz.Product Review: Great smell, wonderful product, not lavender! Summary: 5 Stars
It seems like a lot of the baby products people gave me have lavender in them, which is great if it doesn't make your baby sneeze. Most of the products with laveder have a very strong oder. I have always loved Aveno products for me because I have sensitive skin and this is a great product for my son. It has a great light smell and it makes his skin look great. I can't say for sure this product helped but my son was getting a slight diaper rash and the day after I bathed him with this, there was no more redness.
Product Review: Not for the Allergic: Awful smell. Summary: 1 Stars
This is wasted money. It smells horrible if you're allergic to perfume. It's not "Lightly scented" but heavily scented and not "tear free". Bad product. Find something completely scent free for your baby.
Product Review: Not tear-free despite what the label says Summary: 2 Stars
I recently bought this body wash/shampoo for my 1 year old. The label claims that it is tear-free, but every time even a little bit of this gets in his eyes, he screams in pain until I rinse his eyes out. I should mention that this has never happened with any other shampoo we have used on him, and now that I have switched back to his old shampoo, we do not have that problem anymore. Also, this is lightly scented, but to me it smells like the shampoo we used to use on our dog -- not really a great smell for a baby. The good thing about this product is that it was on a list of shampoos/body washes that are recommended as safe (chemical-wise) for babies and children.
Product Review: Very effective at Moisturizing Summary: 5 Stars
The moisturizing works. My baby has extreme skin. She, like her father (me) before her, has eczema as a child. This wash was a big help in getting that under control. She still requires moisturizer after the bath, but that alone did not do the trick. The body wash plus the moisturizer allows us to bathe my baby as often as we want without drying her out.
The wash does not seem to bother my baby's eyes, it does leave a residue that takes a moment longer to wash off than does regular Johnson and Johnson. I still use J$J for the hair. The baby's skin feels soft and clean nearly right away.
The only comparable baby wash I found was Aquaphor for babies and this left a residue that took even longer to wash off, and did not leave the skin looking or feeling any better. The Aquaphor product is also some 35% more expensive. So there you have it. The wash is a good part of the answer to a baby's dry skin issues.
