I haven't bought this shampoo yet, but while all the raves about this shampoo almost made me buy this one, I somehow got suspicious about the good reviews (thought too good to be true). So I did some search about biotin and here's what wikipedia entry of biotin says:
"Biotin is often recommended for strengthening hair and nails. Consequently, it is found in many cosmetics and health products for the hair and skin, though it cannot be absorbed through the hair or skin itself.
Biotin deficiency is rare, as, in general, intestinal bacteria produce an excess of the body's recommended daily requirement. For that reason, statutory agencies in many countries, for example the USA and Australia, do not prescribe a recommended daily intake of biotin."
If this is true, it's very likely that biotin contained in shampoos, conditioners (not just this one) won't do much for hair growth, thickening.
Product Review: Arrived leaking, not loving this conditioner

I purchased the shampoo and conditioner for my very fine hair. This product arrived very late and leaking through the box also dented. I am not crazy about the shampoo or conditioner. The shampoo left my hair feeling quite dry so I had to use the conditioner with it. It also has a very strong medicine type smell. I love this shampoo for it really cleans my hair, the only thing that I wasnt crazy about is it will make your hair a bit tangly but when you use the avalon organics biotin thickening conditioner after, the results is amazing, both when use together or separately will bring out the highlights on your hair.Product Review: Avalon Organics Biotin Shampoo

I love this! It cleans my hair really well, doesnt give me flakes, makes my hair shine, and it brings out my highlights.
