Product Reviews of Atkins Ready To Drink Shake, Milk Chocolate Delight, 11-Ounce Aseptic Containers (Pack of 12)

Product Review: Very Good Served VERY Cold! Recommended!
Summary: 4 Stars

As a Type 2 Diabetic, I try to keep my carb and calorie intake as low as possible. I have been using various low carb shakes for over a year now and find the Atkins brand to be one of the best. The more expensive Slim-Fast Low-Carb Ready To Drink, Creamy Chocolate, 11-Ounce Cans in 4-Count Boxes (Pack of 6) is the best tasting in my opinon, but it is slightly higher in both carbs and calories. The SlimFast also comes in cans, not these cardboard packs.

All of these shakes taste best when served very cold and poured in to a glass.

Recommended!

Product Review: What were they thinking?
Summary: 1 Stars

I don't mind them redesigning the container, but why did they reformulate the contents? The old Atkins shakes had a taste and texture that was creamy and deliciously decadent, and satisfied me for several hours. The new formula has less calories and more carbs (doesn't that go against the Atkins principals?) and is watery, flavorless, and I'm hungry again in less than an hour. Being a previously devoted Atkins shake fan, I hate to say this, but Slimfast Low Carb shakes now taste better than the new Atkins shakes. Atkins cost more than Slimfast Low Carb, but they used to be worth it! I do have a hint though, if you add a couple of servings of half-and-half (the kind that are for adding to coffee) to the shake, it helps create a creamier shake that is a bit more satisfying. But why should I have to? Why did they think they had to fix something that wasn't broken?

Product Review: Why did they change the formula - Tastes Bad now
Summary: 1 Stars

I've used the Atkins shakes for years now. But now they taste bad. They taste like a bad diet drink from the 90's. They have a bad after taste, more carbs than the original, made with dairy (milk) protein now instead of soy. There are articles that state soy protein promotes health in many areas (look it up). So why did Atkins go and change the formula? Call them and let them know you're dissatisfied like I did.
I called Atkins (800-6ATKINS) and let them know the taste is no longer any good. They said that they changed the following that may have affected taste:
1) Changed from SOY Protein to Dairy (Milk?) Protein
2) Added more cream (which should have just made it thicker)
3) Changed the cocoa formula - which I'm thinking was the killer
They said they need feedback given for them to know if people like it or not (the new formula) - my response was "not like it". The rep said the reason they changed to milk protein instead of soy protein was due to some feedback from women who wanted dairy.
So everyone call in if you don't like it so they can change it back. I used to look fwd to drinking it, now I can't force myself to drink it.

Product Review: make a mocha
Summary: 4 Stars

Down here in SW Florida, I'm an iced coffee drinker. So for years I've been starting my day with the atkins milk chocolate shake mixed (roughly 1 to 2 proportions) w/ iced coffee. The shake by itself I find not very tasty, but with iced coffee it's sort of like a Cafe Mocha, and it really helps with the blood sugar start for the day. Depending on the coffee, I add one splenda, but always served very cold. It's great for a mom-on-the-run.

Product Review: tastes good
Summary: 5 Stars

My husband and I like the taste of this, and my grandson loves it. They are satisfying and can delay hunger for 2-3 hours for us. I have tried a few other brands that are higher in protein but cannot stand the taste of them (I think it's the taste of whey protein that I dislike so much). This has some whey protein but not enough to overwhelm the taste. My husband takes these to school for his lunch on many days, and they are handy to grab some when we are going somewhere but need a snack or might have a delayed meal and we don't want to get tempted by junk. My grandson often is "real hungry" at times when a meal isn't imminent and I like giving him one of these instead of some high-carb snack. We have only tried the milk chocolate flavor.
