I've had two of these, and both broke in exactly the same place. The screws strip out of the suction cups, and then the product is worthless. I wouldn't buy another one.Product Review: Sure beats bending over!

We have a dog and a Dad (: to pick up after, and this thing is great! In the front yard, where the dog's toys and various twigs and leaves find themselves, the grabber is useful for avoiding dog drool, and it's much easier to use the Gopher than to bend over and pick up things twenty or so times. The garage and patio have bits of stripped wires and other things from Dad's projects, and, again, it's much easier to pick up these little pieces of rubber and wire with the Gopher than to bend over. At ten bucks, it's pretty much disposable and you can have more than one in the house. Save your back and avoid the tedium. Pick up a Gopher!Product Review: The Gopher won't go for much

My family has gone through five of these. We learn slowly and they are quite cheap.
Each one has lost the grabbing suction cups.
It can pick up small light items.
I tried to turn my computer on and it could not depress the push button.
I wanted my dictionary. It is a small paperback. I grabbed the Gopher and went for it. One side sprang open quite dramatically. The other just dropped its cup. Even duct tape could not save that one.
A tiny screw runs between the grabbing tension rods and into each suction cup. That screw is pulled apart when the grabber closes. It lasts longer than it should, based on such a poor design.
Buy one with a simple design.

This looks like the ones I buy locally (like at Walgreens) for the same price. I was going through them though because the rubber tips strip the threads until I got this bright idea: before you even use it unscrew the rubber ends and put some super glue in the hole and screw back on. It will be solid then.
Now if I could find a tip for it breaking at the place where it folds.
I use a wheelchair and even though I have a lift on my chair things are often out of reach in the stores. This is such a handy helper and I haven't seen any other brand that comes near to this one. I tried a more expensive reacher and it was so wimpy I returned it.
Even if you have to buy a new one from time to time the price is right.

I JUST GOT MY GRABBER FROM VENDANT AND IT IS ALMOST THE SAME AS THE ONE I PAID $12.00 FOR. I REALLY WOULD NOT WORRY ABOUT THE STAINLESS STEEL CABLE RUBBING ON THE ALUMINUM BODY IT WILL LAST A VERY LONG TIME. MY OTHER "OFFICIAL" GRABBER DOES THE SAME THING. I
HAD NO TROUBLE CHANGING A LIGHT BULB WITH THE HARDER RUBBER CUPS. THESE WILL PROBALY LAST LONGER THAN THE SOFT ONES THE SCREWS RIP OUT OF. AS FOR NOT PICKING UP THINGS THESE WERE ABLE TO PICK UP A PAPER CLIP OFF OF A HARD WOOD FLOOR. I PLAN ON ORDERING MORE OF THEM AT THIS PRICE THE ARE ALMOST FREE.
