I have owned this for 2 years now and is working great. I did however strip one of the filter covers and it wouldn't come off and I told Aquasana and they mailed me a new one for only the cost of shipping. This filter is the best on the market period. Look at what it filters.

Why buy water when you can purify it yourself?
I don't know why people are having such a hard time with this product and breaking the housing.? Are you incompetent?

I own this product for more than a year now and I don't understand why all the negative reviews!! Changing the cartridges is pretty easy, you have to grease up the o-rings when you change them, this is all explained in the instructions, and the grease comes with the cartridges. The whole assembly is made of plastic so yes, you have to be careful not to overtighten things, just be gentle and tighten just enough to seal everything. This is also explained in the instructions to tighten and check for leaks.
If you just throw everything together and tighten with a wrench like you were tightening a bolt on your car then it's your fault.
The water is great, the replacement cartridges are easy to find. Most of all this is the best countertop filter as far as performance (i.e. poisons and pollutants that it can remove). It costs $10/mo in cartridges for all the water you can drink!
I would highly recommend this filter, I am very happy.
Product Review: Yet Another Cracked Housing

I also have experienced the problem of having one of the filter housings cracking at the bottom and leaking water all over my kitchen before I realized it. Otherwise, the unit filters water nicely (but slowly) but what good is it if it is going to crack after a year or two of use - so much for my trying to save money. I had to throw the unit away. From what I see from reading the other reviews about this product (on this site and others), this is a common problem. Product Review: Great water, extremely poor design.

I can not say anything bad about the quality of the water, it seemed fine. The problem is the unit itself is a complete pain. The installation process was not designed at all. If you manage to get it installed without leaks, you are good for 6 months. After 6 months, time to change the filters and the struggle starts again. I had purchased a few filters up front so I did this for 3 cycles, each time I cracked a part, had a leak or just had entirely to much frustration. If you're lucky your getting the filter changed in under 20 minutes but the plastic parts will not hold up. If you don't destroy them changing the filter the first time, plan on it the second.
Aquasana will replace all the parts one at a time for only the shipping and handling fee... which is more expensive than the parts are worth. They will not 'bundle' them with your filter shipments.
I tossed my last filter away with the unit and replaced it with a more know commercial brand. Start there and safe yourself the headache.

I've been using Aquasana filters for about 5 years now: 3 years on the first unit and almost two years on the second. The housing on the first unit broke and I hope that Aquasana steps up to correct the obvious quality problem with their product. I have never had a problem with slow water flow even though I wait about 8 months before I replace the filters. By 8 months, it is slower than the first month but not unreasonably slow. Without a filter, my tap water tastes terrible and leaves deposits in my coffee maker. This filter system resolves both these issues and is much, much quicker than the Brita and other decanter-type filters. In all fairness, I have never tried other filter types, but I am very happy with my Aquasana and do not plan on changing unless the quality gets worse.
In short, the water quality is excellent and the price is not bad when compared to comparable filter systems. I look forward to the day when Aquasana improves the quality of the housing unit and I really hope that they do not compromise water quality (filters) in an effort to increase water flow. I would much prefer waiting an extra 10 seconds for better quality water.
