I also have experienced the problem of having one of the filter housings cracking at the bottom and leaking water all over my kitchen before I realized it. Otherwise, the unit filters water nicely (but slowly) but what good is it if it is going to crack after a year or two of use - so much for my trying to save money. I had to throw the unit away. From what I see from reading the other reviews about this product (on this site and others), this is a common problem.
