Product Reviews of Andis 23585 Super Deluxe Pet Clipper Kit with DVDProduct Review: Quiet Clipper Summary: 3 Stars
I was pleased at how quiet this clipper is. I have been using my (people) clipper on my dog. The noise makes him tremble. The blades are stronger and go through my dog's double coat easily.
Product Review: Strong tool, good price Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this set at Petsmart for $50 for my long-haired rottweiler. Let's get one thing straight here - my rottweiler has THICK hair, about 3 inches long, and she's completely covered in dirt all the time. These clippers cut through her hair (I didn't give her a bath, so they cut through her dusty fir) with no problems at all! I got about 4 good uses out of these, then the blades finally went dull. I searched on the Andis website which is EXTREMELY helpful, they show you a list of blades that fit your clippers and you can buy from them or find a store that sells what you need. The replacement blades are about $16 for the horse/dog type ... I have to admit, I contemplated buying sheep clippers for my dog at one time. The motor runs the same as when I first bought it regardless of all the dirt and hair that has gone through it.
I have to say that even spending $50 on these clippers is a good deal, since taking a dog to get groomed can be $40 or more each time! The kit comes with a ton of clipping guides of all sizes, sheers, clipper lubricant, and brush. It also comes with a video which I never watched, so I can't say if it would be helpful or not.
I definitely recommend this for any size dog!
Product Review: Success on an Australian Shepherd Summary: 4 Stars
We have an Aussie/Healer mix (we think...she was a foundling) with a thick, soft coat. I've had her professionally groomed once a year for about 7 years at $60 to $75 a pop so last summer I decided to try it myself with this clipper kit. To make a long story short, she didn't turn out so bad! (Well, the neighbors didn't laugh, anyway!) It took me a while to get the hang of it--I finally chucked the various combs and went with the bare clippers--but she didn't complain and I had a "cool" dog for much less $$$ than a pro cut. The best part was I could keep her trimmed all summer as her heavy coat grew back. No report as yet how long the blades last, but I'm already money ahead even if I must replace them next year.
Product Review: WONDERFUL Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this set from my local PetSmart to replace the piece-of-junk Oster kit we originally bought. It is just night and day! My Oster was constantly clogging with hair, the screws holding the blades on fell off all the time *DANGEROUS,* it was sooo loud, and it got so hot it almost burnt me!
This Andis never cloggs or quits running mid cut and the blades are much safer. My cocker spaniel tangles VERY easily and this clipper even went through some of the knots! It's very quiet and it doesn't get very warm at all. It was almost FUN to clip the dogs for once! This is a GREAT set of clippers for the price!
Product Review: not good for an airedale Summary: 2 Stars
I recently purchased the clipper--but after arrival discovered it is not designed to use on an Airedale's wire coat...The clipper went through aboout a six inch swatch and wouldn't go through any more. The motor worked okay but it doesn't cut her hair.
