Product Review: Great Clippers

We bought these (Andis 21420 Pro-Animal 7 Piece Clipper Set) online after the groomers cut our dog's ear and asked us not to come back. (We may have caused a scene...) They cost just as much as one haircut so we thought we'd try them.
They worked great on our 35 lb. cocker spaniel. He's gotten his hair cut professionally for years, so he was used to the process, but this was the first time we had tried to cut him and it was no problem.
It took a couple of hours - although we took several breaks to let us relax and the clippers cool down. They do get hot after a while, but if you take breaks and use the snap on comb attachments (or don't wait till your dog becomes Yeti-like like we did) it's not bad.
One tip - after a while we noticed the clippers were starting to cut less smoothly. We finally figured out that the comb attachment had collected a ton of hair; after taking off the attachment and cleaning it the clippers ran great again.
We've only used this product once, but it worked great and has already paid for itself. I definitely recommend it.

These clippers are great! I use them on my 50 pound goldendoodle and her haircuts take half as long now! Before I was using a cheap pair of clippers, but these are definitely worth the investment. Bought a different brand pet clipper at retail store at same price that aboslutely don't work, the ceramic blade is a must for stadaard poodles. I was able to do it pretty much perfect the first time. Even my poodle enjoyed it. No painful hair pulling, the ceramic blade stayed cool way longer than the metal ones. I have two Cocker Spaniels, one of which is subject to seizures. Therefore I try to minimize anything stressful to her. She hates to go to the groomers and does not cooperate well during grooming. Amazingly, she sits still for me to use these clippers on her. Although I am not a professional at cutting her hair, it does allow me to cut the number of times she has to go quite a bit. The quiet motor is a blessing, and the snap on blades make it easy to adjust the length you want. Just be sure your dog has been combed out good when using the snap on blades.
Update, as of July 9, 2010, these shears are still going strong and have served me well. No problems, will buy same when time for replacement.

I was impressed with these clippers. This was the first time I ever gave our Cocker Spaniel a haircut. Both the dog and the clippers did great. The clippers got a little hot, but then it took me quite a long time. The dog got a little tired of all the attention, but then..... Over all I would recommend these clippers and recommend buying them from Amazon.
