Product Reviews of Andis 21420 Pro-Animal Detachable Ceramic Blade Clipper KitProduct Review: Hard-working and least scary for doggie and me Summary: 5 Stars
This is the fourth set of clippers I've tried on my dog because she is so terrified of anything that makes "that sound." As other reviews state, these are not quiet, but for whatever reason they don't frighten her as much. Perhaps they're in "canine key." They're hard-working, easy to handle for someone who is just learning how to get the job done. I'm pleased. I spent way too much on the others. This is a good set!
Product Review: Heats up but easily gets the job done Summary: 4 Stars
The clippers heat up fast (about 10 minutes) which is a definite negative but the clippers certainly DO get the job done. I would recommend what another reviewer suggested: get a second ceramic blade to allow the first to cool down. I had to stop after about 15-20 minutes to let the blade cool so that it wasn't too hot to the touch. The clippers are a major step up from the cheap made-for-people-hair clippers that you can get from Target or Walmart for about $30 (which is what I was using before & which was WAY too hot and did not cut as well after each subsequent use & took longer to get the cut done).
With the Andis clippers, I was able to get a clean, relatively quick cut for my mini-schnauzer with which I was very pleased. (My husband thought I took him to get shaved at the groomers.) It was a lot easier than I expected and much easier than I have experienced with other clippers. I pretty much shave him all over with a #1 attachment. I had no problems with the attachment staying on. Also, my dog HATES getting his fur clipped but was pretty receptive to this device as it was not overly hot or overly loud. He did not squirm as he usually does and didn't try to run off. He was calm--a MAJOR perk. I guess he doesn't find this Andis clippers intimidating.
My miniature schnauzer whose fast growing fur & explorer tendencies frequently (& I mean almost daily) bring him back into the house with all sorts of dirt, twigs, and whatnots caught in his fur. Hence, if he's not groomed often (at LEAST once a month), the house gets covered in evidence of the little guy's explorations. I've used the clippers twice now and am very pleased with it. I ordered a second ceramic blade to alternate between hot blades. I also ordered extra Andis blade oil for about $5, also from Amazon.
Hopefully, this product keeps well and lasts longer.
Product Review: Highly recommended for home clipping Summary: 5 Stars
I had never clipped either dog or human before, but decided to try doing my Standard Schnauzer at home. He is the terror of all local groomers: they complain that he struggles the entire time, so it's been a headache for them and expensive for me. After researching home-use clippers at the Groomers BBS, I decided on this Andis clipper set and I am delighted. It is so quiet that my dog all but ignored it (except around his ears) and it cut through his very shaggy coat like butter. This clipper made easy a job that I had feared would be disastrous.
The comb attachments help to blend in the short and long coat areas on the Schnauzer. I followed the advice of the pros and bought an extra blade so that I could quickly swap them as they grew hot.
Product Review: I found no problems! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought it for my dog but I use it too! We both love it but you will have to take my word for her opinion... (giggle)
Product Review: I love this clipper, not sure if my dog does, lol!! Summary: 4 Stars
I use this clipper on my dog every month to keep her looking and feeling great. Like most dogs, she would rather not be trimmed, but tolerates it well. The clipper is very quiet and come with several combs to give you different lengths. Even when I let her hair get long during the winter, spring shaving is quick and easy. This clipper pays for itself after just a few uses.
