I RECENTLY ADOPTED A SHIH TZU AND REALIZED SHE NEEDS FREQUENT HAIRCUTS TO STAY NEAT AND AVOID TANGLES. THE ANDIS PRO PET 21420 CLIPPER DOES A VERY GOOD JOB. AFTER SOME TRIAL AND ERROR, I FOUND IT WORKS BEST ON HER WITHOUT THE ATTACHMENTS. THE CLIPPER DOES NOT BECOME HOT AND IS PRETTY QUIET, SO SHE IS NOT STARTLED.SINCE I HAVE TWO OTHER DOGS, PLUS CATS AND BIRDS, TO TAKE THIS PUP TO A GROOMER MONTHLY IS TOO EXPENSIVE. I CAN GIVE HER A BATH AT HOME AND THE CLIPPER GIVES HER A NICE HAIRCUT SO IT HAS PAID FOR ITSELF ALREADY.Product Review: A great clipper from Andis

I've used this Andis clipper only once, but it definitely provides a good cutting experience, since I had struggled with an old Oster Model 96--just wasn't working, especially on fine poodle and bichon frise hair. It does get hot, so it's advisable not to rest it on your animal's skin, but keep it moving, otherwise cool it with spray or turn it off to cool it. It smoothly glides through the hair and its speed makes the work easier on me and the dog. The clipper came with plenty of guide combs. I did purchase an optional No. 7 blade, but haven't needed it, yet. Made in U.S.A.--something unusual.Product Review: A very nice product

Pro:
-Nice built quality
-Come with a nice hard case
-Removable blade is nice
-Cut very well when you're not using a plastic spacer
Cons:
-A brush to clean the blade after use would have been nice
-When using a plastic spacer, it doesn't cut as well as without one
Overall, great product for occasional use (i use it once per season)

The clipper comes in one speed, which is NOT disappointing. The two speed clipper tends to get too hot and this could severly hurt or damage a small dog with tender skin. It has all you need to begin, including clipper oil and a nice hard plastic suitcase type case. The clipper oiI that comes with is so tiny, I'd suggest purchasing a larger sized clipper oil separately, and if possible have it ready for your first job.
