Product Reviews of Alli Weight-Loss Aid, Orlistat 60mg Capsules, 60-Count Starter Pack

Product Review: I took this when it was prescription only, here's the FACTS
Summary: 4 Stars

This is the version that is over the counter and that does make a difference. Will it help you lose weight? Yes, it can but don't expect miracles. This is a much lower dosage than the prescription form and it won't let you drop 20 pounds immediately.
But it CAN help. For example, the brochure states that if you would normally lose 5 pounds with diet and exercise, Alli could cause you to lose 2-3 more pounds, bringing the total to as much as 8 pounds WHILE EATING THE SAME FOODS and exercising the SAME amount. Why? Because it does reduce the amount of fat you absorb.
Even so, you can STILL gain weight if you don't follow a sensible eating plan and get some exercise. This isn't a magic potion but an AID. If you are one of those people who would get excited by seeing an extra few pounds come off and if it would MOTIVATE you to stick to your diet, then I could see how Alli would be of benefit to you.
On the other hand, you can also expect to have some discomfort if you cheat and eat high fat foods, including gas, looe stools, etc. I would think that could be enough to deter people from eating THOSE foods but apparently some people do cheat, anyway.
The bottom line? If you are motivated, willing to make changes, get some exercise and committed to this plan, you will lose more weight than without taking the pill. Just don't expect miracles, but a nice, slow but steady loss.
A nice side effect? The possible lowering of cholesterol, another reason to try this.

Product Review: IS alli right for me
Summary: 3 Stars

I havent tried ALLI yet but I was wondering if u guys can help me. So far I am on a strict diet. In the morning I eat 2 wheat bread and egg start( white part egg no yellow), in the afternoon I just eat fruits and dinner I usually have a fatfree turkey sandwich(wheat bread) or ham fat free or shrimp with vegetables. Thats all I eat everyday basically less than 800 calories a day. The only drink I am allowed is water, skim milk and sugar free tea. Its been 3 weeks and I lose 20lbs. I also exercise at least 30 mins a day ( aerobic video)sometimes i go to park and run for an hr. I know 20lbs is good but I need to lose more and fast since I am going out of country. Do you guys think Alli would help me lose weight faster?
And yes the first week I was really starving to the point my stomach wont stop growling but I have a strong personality when it comes to control. Its all in the mind. I stopped eating food that i love and started eating food that I dont like hehhe. For some reason after 3 weeks on a diet i dont lose weight as much as I did when I started. SO, to speed up the process I was wondering if Alli is right for me. Thank you all for your help.

Ok the updates since I posted this comment on aug 1 2007 and its now aug 10, 2007 I have lose 7 lbs more.I realized I dont need alli to help me lose weight. Just eat right and exercise. Seriously no more rice, white bread, junk foods, cakes, sweet stuff. Just eat wheat bread or brown rice, chicken meat( no skin), lean beef, seafood but not fried, lots of vegetables, good amount of fruits except banana, avoid eating fastfood, do not eat anything fried. Eat food thats only baked, steamed if u want to saute use non fat cooking spray. Trust me it will help and dont eat too much portion, dont forget to exercise at least 30 mins a day.Take multivitamins also. If u crave for sweets have some fatfree frozen yogurt. It helps!!! Ive been on a diet for a month and 4 days and I lose 27 lbs. If I can do it you can do it! Just eat healthy... oh and you dont have any oil discharge. FOr the first week you will be tempted to eat more and you will feel a little hungry but after a week u feel more energetic and lighter! goodluck all!

Ok... Its now aug 17. I have lose 6 1/2 lbs more and for 7 days I havent exercised lol. I still control my eating habit and I do activities so I can burn that calories. I was originally 210 lbs and now I am down to 176.5 lbs.. Ill keep this posted :) goodluck all

Product Review: Is a great product, but you MUST follow the plan EXACTLY.
Summary: 4 Stars

Please take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. Alli is a very usefull tool for weight loss if you follow the plan to a "t" and do EVERYTHING that the books that come with it say to do. You will not have "treatment effects" if you do it the right way. If people actually read the liturature that comes with it they would know this. You MUST not go over the reccomended amount of fat grams for each meal and snacks. You cannot "save up" the fat grams and eat a whole days worth at one sitting thinking you will not have problems. There is no way to eat high fat foods while taking Alli and not have "treatment effects", you will never be able to eat cheeseburgers while on Alli and not have a problem, even if you starve all day. The Alli plan tells you to keep a food diary for EVRYTHING you eat. If people are just writing down estimates or not writiing down anything at all thinking they can remember everything you ate, you most likely have "treatment effects". You have to be diligent about how you eat and 100% certain about the calrories and fat grams in everything you eat. Here is the bottom line, Alli is a great tool, Alli really works like it says it does. The people who say they had problems with it were not as diligent as they should have been in follwing the plan. For instance a person may very well have eaten Chicken and veggies for dinner, but they failed to include the fat grams of the oil they cooked it in. This happens alot with resatuarant meals. You have no way of knowing for certain if there has been extra fat added to a dish unless you cooked it yourself. I can say with almost 100% certainty that all of the people who claimed to have "treatment effects" despite following the program are not being honest with themselves. Alli is a tool, not a magic bullet and it is ALOT of work, but it is worth it! On side note, you dont have to give up the foods you love on Alli. With a little bit of searching online, it is possible to find low fat versions of many of the foods you love! Be creative, you probably can come up with your own low fat versions of your favorites!

Product Review: It works if you follow the plan
Summary: 4 Stars

I've been taking the pill for 12 days and I have lost 3lbs. I was very shock. Ive been eating low fat and working out for months and the scale never would change until I started taking Alli. I could only imagine how much I would have lost if I worked out in those 12 days. The treatments effects keep you on your toes, everytime I thought about cheating I think of the side effects, so I grab some fruit instead of a cookie. Next week I will continue to eat low fat and add about 4 to 5 cardio sessions and see what happens. I will keep you posted.

Product Review: It helps some
Summary: 4 Stars

So i bought the 60 capsule starter pack. i actually decided to use this product as a means for experimenting. ive been exercising for two years almost 5 days a week and havent lost a pound, the only time was when i was sick for 4 days and sucking down cough drops and drinking tea (i lost almost 10 lbs!!!). anyways i wanted to see if i ate too much fat. if i had those treatment effects that would tell me that maybe im eating too much fat and thats whats keeping me at my weight, well i had, maybe a treatment effect a week after taking the pills, the most painful cramps and diarrhea, i read the package label and what i ate was 15 or 16 grams of fat, so i stay cleared of it. until last week i started seeing the other treatment effects. basically i would go to the bathroom, experience some loud flatulence and i see yellow oil circles in the toilet, no biggy. as a matter of fact, whenever i felt like i needed to pass gas or do the #2 i went to the bathroom and sometimes id see yellow sometimes not. so i didnt need to wear those pantyliners. i already have the refill on order. to this date i havent lost weight (i cant get pass this certain number) but for me my weight fluctuates between 5lbs and alli keeps me at the lower end. im sure if i cut or replace certain things i may get past that number but im not worried now.

i didnt give alli a 5 because i thought it would get me past that number but i gave it a 4 because its keeping me at the lower end, they explained the treatment effects, the boooklets it comes with in the starter pack are cool, you can get an online account, and it promotes healthy eating and exercising. in the end alli is a booster for healthy living, not the ends all magic pill.

if your the type of person that loses weight fast this pill is for you. if you have stubborn weight that wont budge, this might help you.

hope this helps

ooh, and as an update, i ate that 15-16 grams of fat meal again and i didnt get the treatment effects, any of them, so it could be a fluke. also it would appear that im not eating alot of fat or eating enough fat to cause treament effects so now i have to see what else is keeping me at this weight...
