Product Review: Everyone should have one...

This is a great product - it actually is kind of fun. I thought of getting it because our friend has one that he passes around at parties. It's neat for people to see how high their blood alcohol content is, and if it's about what they expect it to be.
My only complaint is that this product is not meant to be used often. The second time we "played" with it (at home), the readings seemed to be off. I then read in the product information that if you use the product frequently, it may need to be recalibrated every month or so. Recalibration involves mailing it off and paying $20.
Now that we know that, we'll keep it in our pocket and use it when we truly have concerns - not passing it around for everyone to use. But I love that they sell these for the public to use, and it truly is an important safety tool for modern times.

The alcohawk Precision Digital test unit is extremely repeatable (+/- 0.01% maximum) from what I can see from the first three (3) weeks of functional testing I've subjected it to.
Highly recommended.

You have to wait about 5 or more minutes between each use, if you use it too fast it gives you all sorts of error messages, and continues to give you all sorts of errors. I've rarely used it over the few months I had it, and now its not working at all. I just keep blowing 0.000. I've tried resetting it. Haven't quite figured out the calibration part.
It's fun and useful, but not very reliable.

I have had this for over six months now. First of all, the suggested mouthpieces do not fit this model- I bought them and then could not return them.
This takes forever to 'warm up' before you actually blow into it. Sometimes you have to turn it off and start it up again to get it working. I would most definitely pay more for a model that is in better working condition.
