Product Reviews of 1Fast400 Glucomannan Powder, 300-GramsProduct Review: Glucomannan and Psyllium Summary: 5 Stars
Glucomannan Powder (konjac root) is amazing stuff. I find the taste and consistency a little hard to get used to, so I mix glucomannan with equal parts of Yerba Prima whole psyllium seed husks to improve the taste and consistency. Yerba Prima Botanicals - Psyllium Whole Husks, 12 oz powder
Pre-measure 5 grams of glucomannan and 5 grams of psyllium husks into small Tupperware containers to speed up the process of adding the fiber to the water. Also, be sure to use psyllium seed husks and not psyllium seed powder. The powder gels too quickly when mixed with water.
Each morning I add 10-12 ounces of water to a glass jar with a screw-on lid. Use a quart jar to allow enough "free space" to thoroughly mix the fiber with the water. Quickly add the fiber, screw on the lid, and shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds. Drink quickly before the fiber gels. I don't use a whisk because the fiber mixture tenaciously sticks to the whisk - but it barely sticks to the inside of the glass jar.
New users might start with a smaller amount of fiber to allow the system to adjust to a higher dietary fiber intake. The glucomannan container shows a serving size of 1 gram, but you should be able to tolerate more than this. My glucomannan and psyllium mix equals 9.5 grams of carbs and 38 calories. It also adds 9.5 grams of fiber to my food intake - this equals zero net carbs.
The glucomannan / psyllium husk fiber mix really helps with regularity - without the unpleasant side effects of gas, cramps, or diarrhea. And, more importantly, these two powders are "pure" - i.e., no fillers, additives, sweeteners, soy protein, guar gum, pectin gum, or flavorings.
Product Review: Horrible product! Summary: 1 Stars
I was very disappointed with this product. I gagged on it in several different drinks I tried, hoping to find one that I could stand. It has an overwhelming fishy taste & odor to it, and becomes very thick & clumpy almost immediatley upon mixing with liquid, hot or cold. I could only stand it if I mixed it with something very sweet like oranje juice & only used a small amt, (less than half) the recommended dose. There are no instructions on the label or that come with the product either. I think its a complete waste of money. If you want some healthy plant fiber that really doesn't have any tast to it, makes you feel fuller longer, is easy to use, that you can add to any liquid (soups, coffee, water, etc) I recommend the metamucil or fibersure powders. They mix in hot or cold & don't have sugar or artificial products in them. They did everything this product claimed to do but didn't and they are more affordable.
Product Review: Near Impossible to consume Summary: 2 Stars
This stuff is nearly impossible to consume. You cant mix it with water because it gels faster than you can get it in the water. Half of it sticks to the spoon before it hits the water and the rest sticks to the cup. I tried just putting it in my mouth directly which was stupid because it immediately gelled to my teeth and was hard to get off. I just about gave up and my wife told me to try mixing it with yogurt. It was actually semi-edible with mixing it with yogurt. It gelled up but just seemed like a chunky yogurt and 1/3 to 1/2 of it stuck to the spoon but was able to bite it off because the yogurt stuck to it too. The one thing with mixing it with yogurt is I have severe hypoglycemia and I dont want to be eating sweetened yogurt 1-3 times a day and I imagine people with diabetes dont need the extra sugar either.
In a nut shell if you want it to be easy I would just recommend getting the capsule form. This is one product that for sure should come in capsule form. For all I know Glucomannan is the reason why they invented capsules.
Product Review: Sketchy Packaging Summary: 1 Stars
This product arrived in sketchy packaging. My container was definitely in a white bottle, unlike the amazon photo. It looked like a sticker with the name of the product was placed on the container with a very "loose" quality control seal around the top that slipped right off without breaking. As this was my first time using glucosomine, it did thicken up as I expected it to... i just couldn't get over how non-professional the packaging was to feel confident enough to use it. It kept reminding me of when my parents would "check" all my halloween candy to make sure nothing had been tampered with. Didn't pass my test. Goodluck if you decide to go with it anyway. I should have sent it back, but I didn't want to pay more to return the product.
Product Review: gritty Summary: 1 Stars
I did not care for this at all. It gritty and did not dissolve well and had an off taste. I have tried better Glucomannan products before. I was trying to save money and it backfired.
